Two Cambridge nightclubs will help youngsters at a children’s hospice find the right moves thanks to a £5,000 donation.

A grant given on behalf of the two Deltic Group venues Ballare and Kuda, will fund a new tracking system for the sensory room at the East Anglia’s Children’s Hospices’ (EACH) Milton hospice. This specialist tracking and hoisting equipment will assist the staff in helping to move children who have limited mobility safely and easily so they can enjoy all elements of the sensory room which can be both a relaxing and stimulating environment.

Andrew Barney, general manager of Ballare, and Simon Wilson, general manager of Kuda, nominated EACH to receive the donation from the clubs’ own charity the Echo Trust.

Andrew said: “We have raised a significant amount for the Echo Trust through regular collections at both clubs. We asked the Trust to support EACH because of its amazing work with children and their families. It is a way for us to give back to the community and make a difference.”

Some of the money will also be used to buy five smartphones for use by hospice staff in their work with families.

Beccy Gillings, EACH Statutory Trust and Foundations Officer, said: “We are thrilled at this generous contribution from the Echo Trust. The new equipment this money provides will make such a huge difference to the children and young people with life threatening conditions that our care team work with. Without the support from local businesses such as Ballare and Kuda EACH would not be able to continue the vital work we do with families across East Anglia.”

EACH provides care and support where the families wish, either at home, at hospital, in the community or at one of its three hospices. It relies on voluntary donations for the majority of its income.

Ballare and Kuda are part of The Deltic Group which operates 59 bars and clubs across the UK, employing more than 2,000 people.

Deltic set up the Echo Trust to grant awards to local children’s charities. Since it was established in 2002 the Echo Trust has raised more than £2.5 million. Money is distributed to causes that are important to its customers.
